We Took the Auctioneer Family Feud Survey (And I Went Completely Blank)
I got an email today asking me to fill out a survey for "Auctioneer Family Feud." Fun, right? I love this stuff. So I sat down, read the first live auction question, and just... blanked. Completely.
So I did what any professional would do. I called Jay, our auction manager. He got a huge kick out of it, mostly at my expense. Then I texted Alex with a question too, because apparently one brain wasn't enough to cover this.
One of the questions was something like: "Name something you'd find in an auction topper." The public's answer is probably not "gavel." But ask another auctioneer, and you might get that. They wanted honest answers, and funny ones. I hope between the three of us we accomplished both.
It also made me realize something: it has been way too long since we've done a live auction. I'd genuinely love to do one again — but if I'm being honest, our online-only auctions just perform better.
But it got me thinking — the real fun in a game like this isn't the auction trivia. It's the stuff that happens around our clients and customers every single week, especially now that we run almost everything online-only. So we made our own version. Twelve questions, one or two word answers, survey-says style.
Name Something... (Online Auction Edition)
Name something someone says right after winning an item.
Name something people forget to bring to auction pickup.
Name something people do while waiting in line at auction pickup.
Name something you almost always see at auction pickup.
Name something that doesn't fit in the vehicle people brought.
Name the person who usually picks up the items you won at auction.
Name something people do while waiting for an online auction to end.
Name something someone says after getting outbid at the last second.
Name a place someone bids from besides home.
Name the first room people head to when touring a house.
Name something a photo never shows you.
Name something buyers ask about that's not in the listing.
Fill out the form and send in your answers: https://forms.gle/USo3r6znEUx5Viz38 — we'll come back and share what the real survey says versus what you all guessed. Fair warning — some of these are funnier once you've lived them.
Happy Bidding!
