Why I Attend the National Auction Association Designation Academy

As an auctioneer, staying current in the ever-evolving world of auctions is critical. For years, I relied on our state association conferences to learn new things and keep up with the industry. While this approach kept me current, I realized there was more I could do to grow professionally and better serve our clients. That realization led me to the National Auction Association (NAA) Designation Academy, a place where I can elevate my skills and learn alongside other talented professionals in the industry. This year, I am attending the Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE) and Auction Marketing Management (AMM) classes. These programs dive deep into topics like marketing, real estate strategies, and industry best practices. They are equipping me with tools to adapt to industry trends and improve our services. I already hold the AMM designation and am also working on the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation, a rigorous three-year program that is separate from the Designation Academy but equally important for advancing my skills. One of the most rewarding aspects of attending the Designation Academy has been the people I’ve met. While most attendees are auctioneers, some bring their staff, which adds diversity and unique perspectives to the discussions. The NAA staff themselves are incredibly kind and helpful, ensuring that everyone has a positive and productive experience. In addition to the Designation Academy, I’ve also attended the Digital Marketing Summit for the past two years and plan to go again this February. This summit is another excellent opportunity to stay ahead in today’s fast-paced digital landscape and ensure that our marketing efforts are as effective as possible. Attending these programs isn’t just about adding letters after my name; it’s about ensuring we can offer the best possible service to our clients.
